Local 79 members are encouraged to join this year’s African American Day Parade on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm. The parade is the largest such parade in the United States and Local 79 is proud to always be well-represented at this event. We will gather at 11:30 am on 113th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem. The parade starts at 1:00 pm and will be followed by food and beverages for Local 79 members.

Thousands Attend African American Parade

Hundreds of  members of Local 79 joined thousands of parade-goers at the Annual African American Day Parade on Sunday, September 21. The parade, which filled Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard from 110th Street to 137th Street, was a joyful, celebratory event, with a variety of marching bands from many states, labor unions, community groups, and public officials, including Mayor Bill de Blasio.
