Local 79 attended two Columbus Day Parades this year. On Sunday, Local 79 members showed their union pride in the Bronx at the Morris Park Columbus Day Parade. While marching, Local 79 members were joined by State Senator Diane Savino and State Senator Jeff Klein.
On Monday, Local 79 braved the rain to celebrate the 71st annual Columbus Day Parade in Manhattan. In celebration of some of our members’ Italian heritage, the back of our shirts read: “Italian by Blood, American by Birth, Union by Choice.” Recording Secretary Joe Cestaro concluded that “No matter the conditions, Local 79 will never stop representing our union pride. I am proud to be an Italian-American member of Local 79.”
