Local 79 is Section 3

Local 79 is committed to our robust Section 3 and local hire programs. Hundreds of Local 79 members are NYCHA residents. Local 79 actively works to grow career opportunities, including apprenticeship, for NYCHA residents and other New Yorkers in need of economic opportunity. On NYCHA projects, we meet and exceed Section 3 resident hiring requirements. Every year, our hiring hall and training center help hundreds of local workers from NYCHA communities find careers in union construction.
