With the 20th anniversary of September 11th approaching, there will be numerous memorial events happening. The one Local 79 will be focusing on will be dedicated not only to the victims’ families, it will also be dedicated to the Unionized construction industry and our participation in the rescue and recovery efforts of that tragic event.

HEART 9/11, which is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization specializing is disaster relief, was created by Construction Workers, Cops and Firefighters who met while working together in the days, weeks and months following September 11, 2001. Since that time, hundreds of Local 79 members have volunteered with HEART 9/11 at disaster’s all over the United States, PR and Haiti. HEART 9/11 is organizing a commemorative march and ceremony of the 9/11 recovery workers on Sunday, September 12th and we know that Local 79 members will want to turnout as they always do with extreme enthusiasm and support for this memorial.
