Brothers and Sisters,

In March of 2018, Local Law 196, a law requiring safety training for all workers on any construction site that requires a site safety plan went into effect. Almost all of the jobsites that Local 79 members are working fall under this requirement.

As of this writing, on June 1, 2019, all Local 79 workers will be required to have a    Limited Site Safety Card.

There are three ways of qualifying for this card:

OSHA 10 Approach
OSHA 10 Hour * – (issued within the past 5 years)
8 Hour Fall Prevention
8 Hour Chapter 33 Review
4 Hour Scaffold User – (Issued within the past 5 years)

OSHA 30 Approach
OSHA 30 Hour * – (issued within the past 5 years)

Apprenticeship Approach
Apprenticeship Graduate * – (graduated within the past 5 years)

*If the OSHA training or apprenticeship was completed more than five years ago, an 8-Hour SST Refresher must be completed!

After earning your SST Limited Card, you will be required to complete 10 additional hours of training before September 1, 2020.
