Today, New York State Attorney General Tish James announced a landmark $1.5 million sexual harassment settlement and investigation revealing how nonunion “body shop” Trade Off engaged in sexual harassment and retaliation against Black women construction workers on major real-estate development projects, including Hudson Yards.
Former Trade Off employees and Mason Tenders District Council/Laborers’ Local 79 hope that today’s settlement will create a real moment of moral reckoning and public accountability for real-estate industry contractors and developers who have profited from the use of body shops.
