Out of an abundance of caution due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) The membership meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2020 has been cancelled. Local 79 has been proactive in taking precautions to contain the spread of the coronavirus by avoiding large crowds and close direct contact with other individuals similar to that of our union meetings.

The health and safety of our members, employees and communities are a top priority, and our thoughts are with those impacted by the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic.

We’re encouraging our members to take all necessary health precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), such as cleaning your hands often. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

All these safeguards and precautions are made with you in mind. They are based on recommendations from local, state, and federal officials whose experts are working tirelessly to safeguard our health. We will continue to follow guidance from health agencies and government officials to maintain a safe and engaging work experience for everyone.

The next scheduled membership meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

We will continue to monitor information from the CDC and authorities and will keep you updated as the situation progresses.
