Hundreds of Building and Construction Trades union officials, members, and management, including the leadership and many members of Local 79, gathered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Tuesday, April 29 for the sixth annual Construction Workers Memorial Mass.The Mass honored the memories of construction workers killed or injured on the job in 2013 and early 2014. After assembling outside the St. Patrick’s, the crowd, most of whom wore hardhats, somberly proceeded inside the Cathedral, where the nine workers who died in the past year were represented by nine chairs with hardhats and flowers on them.  The Mass was a solemn and moving tribute to construction workers who died and have been injured in New York City, as well as to construction workers world-wide who have suffered death and injury on the their job sites.
