Apprentice Graduation with Featured Speaker Jumaane Williams
Our April Membership meeting opened with over a hundred apprentices walking down the aisle and shouting in unison “Who are we? Seventy-nine!” to loud cheers and rounds of applause from their Local 79 brothers and sisters. Laborers Local 79 at Manhattan West Mega-Development
Local 79 members working at the Manhatten West mega-development were visited at lunch by our Executive Board and GNY-LECET representatives. AECOM Tishman serves as the general contractor for this state-of-the-art project.
VP John Norbury – Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Honoree
Local 79 Vice President John Norbury is an Honorary Grand Marshall at the 44th Annual Queens County St. Patrick's Day Parade this Saturday in the Rockaways. John will also be honored along with Thomas A. Callahan, President and Business Manager of Local 15 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. The Local 79 Executive Board visited jobsites all over the five boroughs in coordination with the Greater New York Laborers-Employers Education & Cooperation Trust. Local 79 members at these sites worked on various projects, including schools, hospitals, malls, public housing, residential towers and office skyscrapers.
