Local 79 has created this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use to explain how you may use the information contained on our websites, which includes, for purposes of the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, using our mobile texts function and our applications, including applications on third-party sites or platforms such as social networking sites, and to explain how we use information that you may provide while visiting one of our websites.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Local 79 collects, uses, and shares information with respect to your use of its website located at local79.org (the “Website”). Before you use or submit any information in connection with the Website, carefully review this Privacy Policy. By using the Website, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as outlined below. The terms “you” or “user” refer to all individuals and entities accessing the Website for any reason. The terms “us” or “we” refer to the AFL-CIO.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide To Us
We collect information about our users when users provide that information to us. Examples of such information collection include, for example, when you sign up to join our email list, when you sign up for an event, or when you take some sort of action through the Website. The kinds of information we may collect include your first and last name, your email address, your mailing address or zip code, your phone number, and any other information you choose to provide to us in connection with your use of the Website. Sometimes you provide the information to a trusted third party vendor on our behalf instead of directly to us, but that vendor uses your information only for the purpose for which it was provided.

Information that Is Passively or Automatically Collected
When you visit the Website, we may automatically receive and record information from your computer or mobile device. This information allows us to understand how people are navigating and using our Website, and how we can improve your experience based on the information we collect. Text (SMS) Messages

1. By providing your cell phone number, you opt in to receiving periodic short message service (SMS) messages (“text messages”) from us concerning subjects such as your union membership, workers rights, pro-union legislation and action alerts.

2. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text “STOP” to the short code. After you send the SMS message “STOP” to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.

3. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at reply@local79.org.

5. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. You will receive no more than 4 messages per month. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
