Photographs of Local 79 female Shop Stewards were featured prominently in a recent Associated Press article on women in the construction trades. The comprehensive article looks at the number of women in the construction trades, some of the issues that face women as they pursue a career in construction, and the efforts made by groups such as Non-Traditional Employment for Women and apprenticeship programs such as Local 79's to increase the percentage of women in the building trades. The article drew heavily from a recent study entitled "Women in Construction: Still Breaking Ground."
