What: Join members of Local 79 to help clean up Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. When: Sunday, May 15: Breakfast at 9:00 am. Cleanup project begins at 10:00 am. Lunch served after the cleanup is finished. Where: Take the subway to the #7 Willets Point/Shea Stadium station. Walk down the boardwalk and meet at the Passerelle Circle at the entrance to the park. As summer approaches, the demand increases for Local 79 members who have both scaffold-building certifications: the 32-hour Scaffold Erector Safety and the 16-hour NYC DOB Suspended Scaffold. If you lack either or both of these certifications, get in touch with the Mason Tenders Training Fund as soon as possible to take these classes. This will assure that when work is available, you will have the certifications necessary to be dispatched to the job.
