Almost a thousand Local 79 members joined the New York City labor movement to celebrate Labor Day as they marched down Fifth Avenue. Labor Day, which started in the 19th century, celebrated and continues to celebrate unions, which organize and fight hard to ensure that workers can earn just wages, work fair hours, have safe working conditions, and receive other benefits that provide them the opportunity to live dignified lives.
