Jake Labate, son Of Local 79 Business Agent Mike Labate and a member of Laborers’ Local 66 on Long Island, recently had the honor of having President Obama congratulate him on his promotion to sergeant. Jake, who joined the U.S. Army in 2010, is a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, based in Vicenza, Italy. His current assignment has him located at a base in Estonia. Jake is proud to be a fourth-generation member of LiUNA, following in the path of his great grandfather, grandfather, and father. We thank Jake for his service and know that whether he chooses to stay in the service or return to Local 66, he can take great pride in all that he has accomplished.
