Labor Day Parade 2023
Almost a thousand Local 79 members joined the New York City labor movement to celebrate Labor Day as they marched down Fifth Avenue. Labor Day, which started in the 19th century, celebrated and continues to celebrate unions, which organize and fight hard to ensure that workers can earn just wages, work fair hours, have safe working conditions, and receive other benefits that provide them the opportunity to live dignified lives. All members that have taken RISE Foundation are invited to sign up for the next level class RISE Builder. Congratulation to Luis Montalvo on his Retirement
Congratulations to Luis Montalvo on his retirement! Luis has been a LIUNA member for over 40 years. He finished his career serving our union as a Business Agent and Executive Board member. Previously, Luis worked as an organizer for LEROF and with Business Manager Mike Prohaska on the historic campaign to organize the demolition industry in the 1990s.
