Park Cleanup Weekend: Local 79 Volunteers Needed

What: Join members of Local 79 on Saturday, May 16 to help clean up Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. When: Saturday, May 16: Breakfast at 9:00 am. Cleanup project begins at 10:00 am Where: Take the subway to the #7 Willets Point/Shea Stadium station. Walk down the boardwalk and meet at the Passerelle Circle at the entrance to the park. Construction Workers Memorial Mass

All Local 79 members and their families are cordially invited to join with Building and Construction Trades union officials, members, and management  at a memorial mass for construction workers killed and injured on job sites from May of 2014 through early April 2015. Date:     Tuesday, April 28, 2015 Time:    2:45: Hardhat Procession into St. Patrick's; 3:00 pm Memorial Service Place:    St. Patrick’s Cathedral 51st Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue PLEASE WEAR YOUR HARDHAT

Local 79 Health Fair is Huge Success

  Over 1,100 Local 79 members and their families came to Local 79's Health Fair at Coleman Country Day Camp on June 7 and enjoyed beautiful sunshine, delicious food, non-stop music and activities, and a wide array of health screenings. The health screenings included blood pressure and heart rate readings, pulmonary tests, cholesterol and glucose screenings, and lots of information from various health care providers. Wristband sales to members for the Health Fair and the 50/50 raffle at the Fair will result in a contribution of $6,000 to St. Mary's Hospital for Children.
