In general, if you earned less than $54,000 in 2015, you can receive free assistance preparing your tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. If you made less than $62,000 in 2015, you can file your federal and state taxes for free online through myfreetaxes.com. Turbotax.com also offers free federal and state filing but does charge fees for additional services you may wish to purchase. See the Turbotax website for further information.
