Local 79 members volunteered to help rebuild Haiti with H.E.A.R.T. 9/11. Also, on the service trip were other union members from the FDNY, New York City District Council of Carpenters, Port Authority Police Department and Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers.
After 5 days of hard work, the structure of a new school was built for the children in the village and community members received training in a skilled trade. Local 79 is proud of the volunteer work done by all involved to help the less fortunate.
