Local 79 Apprentice Recruitment

The next date for open recruitment for Local 79’s apprenticeship program is August 3rd at 9:00 am. Information about apprenticeship, the requirements, and how the recruitment process is carried out is available through the New York State Department of Labor and through the Local 79 and the Mason Tenders’ Training Fund websites.

Over 15,000 union members came together at Union Square to join together in solidarity and say "Count Me In!" with Governor Andrew Cuomo. Local 79 Health Fair

Over 500 Local 79 members and their families came out to Coleman Country Day Camp for a day of fun of at Local 79's Health Fair. All joined together for an all-day barbeque and participated in fun activities, like basketball, volleyball, pony rides, soccer, miniature golf, music, dancing, face painting, inflatables, hula hoop and more. Retiree Spring Luncheon

On May 11, hundreds of Local 79 retirees gathered at Marina del Rey in the Bronx for the annual Retiree Spring Luncheon. With beautiful views of the water and the Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges, retirees ate, danced, and enjoyed the company of their spouses, fellow retirees, and members of Local 79’s Executive Board, Business Agents, and other Local 79 staff.

May Day 2018

On May Day, Local 79 members and thousands of other workers, immigrants, and allies jointed together in Washington Square Park  for a celebration and rally featuring dynamic speakers, musical performances, and community members. Member William Uyaguari spoke at the event and rallied the crowd to fight for the rights of all immigrant workers.
