African-American Day Parade 2016

Hundreds of Local 79 members joined a crowd of many thousands for the annual African American Day Parade in Harlem. Ecuadorian Day Parade: Sunday, August 7

$4,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit

Recently, Local 79 members received a mailing from the National Life Insurance Company. This company provides all Local 79 members and retirees with a $4,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit at no charge to them or to Local 79. Local 79 and FDNY HEART 9/11 Mission: 40 Homes in Five Days

This past week, the HEART 9/11 Ecuador Team (volunteers from Local 79 and the FDNY) partnered with the global architectural firm Perkins Eastman and Hogar de Cristo to build emergency houses in Salinas de San Vicente, the earthquake's epicenter. Forty homes were built in five days with all manual tools: hammers, nails, and post hole diggers. Nearly 1000 Local 79 members and their families enjoyed a sunny day full of fun, food, family, and friendship at Local 79's 20th Anniversary Party and Health Fair at Coleman Country Day Camp.
