Director of World Trade Center Construction Receives Honor from LiUNA General President

LiUNA's General President Terence O'Sullivan attended Local 79's General Membership Meeting on January 21 and presented LiUNA'S highest award to Steve Plate, the Director of World Trade Center Construction and the Deputy Chief of Capital Planning for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Also present at the meeting was LiUNA Vice President and Eastern Regional Manager Raymond M. Pocino. Both O'Sullivan and Pocino thanked Mr. Plate for the leadership he has provided  and continues to provide in overseeing the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site. Dear Brothers and  Sisters, As we prepare to take a well-deserved break for Labor Day, we should also focus on the work that remains for our country. Immigration Forum Draws Hundreds of Members

Hundreds of Local 79 members and their families came to Local 79's Immigration Forum on April 6, 2014. Speakers included LiUNA General President Terry O'Sullivan, Local 79 Business Manager Mike Prohaska, LiUNA Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs Yvette-Pena O'Sullivan, Senator Charles Schumer, Congressman Joseph Crowley, NY State Senator Jose Peralta, NY State Assemblyman Francisco Moya, and four attorneys from Make the Road New York. Mike Prohaska opened the Forum by thanking Local 79's immigrant members for their contributions to Local 79, to New York City, and to the United States.
