Turner Construction has informed Local 79 that it has suffered a data breach and, as a result, personal information of employees that worked for the company in 2015 has been compromised. It takes full responsibility for the disclosure, which was the result of human error. Turner urges its employees to carry out the following steps:

  • Subscribe to a service such as Experian, LifeLock, Identity Guard or similar service to obtain credit monitoring services. Turner will reimburse you for the cost of this service.
  • Contact your credit card and other financial companies you have relationships with to alert them that your identity was compromised and to establish additional security on your personal accounts.
  • Place a fraud alert message on your credit file through a credit reporting agency such as Equifax, Experian or TransUnion. By placing this alert on your credit file, any company that requests your credit file will receive a message warning them that you may have been a victim of fraud. This step will help to protect you from accounts being opened or used by anyone other than yourself.
  • File your income taxes as soon as possible.

Turner is establishing a call center within the next two days to respond to questions that employees might have. As soon as Turner provides Local 79 with the number of the call center, it will be posted on Local 79’s website. Please do not call Local 79’s offices, as we can provide no further information at this point.
