Park Cleanup Weekend: Local 79 Volunteers Needed
What: Join members of Local 79 on Saturday, May 16 to help clean up Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. When: Saturday, May 16: Breakfast at 9:00 am. Local 79 Members: Albany Rally Alert!
Local 79 members are encouraged to come to a rally in Albany to ensure that any extension of 421-a, the tax abatement program for wealthy developers, contains provisions ensuring that the affordable housing built in exchange for the tax breaks will pay workers prevailing wage. Join the Annual May Day Rally!
On May 1, 2015, Local 79 members will join thousands of workers and community activists outside billionaire Walmart owner Alice Walton's home on the corner of 60th Street between Park and Lexington Avenue. Rally for Affordable Housing and Union Construction jobs

Free Hammer and Hammer Holder Available for All Local 79 Members
All Local 79 members in good standing are encouraged to come and pick up a free specially designed hammer and hammer holder from Local 79's Dues Department (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. ) The hammers have Local 79 wood-burned into their handles and the leather hammer holders have Local 79's logo embossed on them. .
Workshop on New Immigration Policies at Local 79
Local 79 and Make the Road New York have offered a series of workshops to inform Local 79 members about President Obama's new executive order regarding immigration and the ways in which it might affect members and their families.
