REPLACE YOUR SST CARD WITH A CITY-REQUIRED “TRAINING CONNECT” CARD!
If you are currently holding a valid SST card, the city now requires you to get that card replaced with one of the new “Training Connect” Site Safety Training Cards (see above). Laborers’ Union Endorses Excluded No More Legislation to Extend Unemployment Benefits to Immigrant Workers
New York – Today, Laborers’ Local 79, which represents 10,000 construction workers in New York, announced its support for Excluded No More, state legislation that would set up a new program to provide unemployment compensation to workers, including undocumented immigrant workers, who are currently excluded from the unemployment insurance system. NY Paid Family Leave Benefits Provided by the Fund
As a reminder, the Mason Tenders’ District Council Welfare Fund (the “Fund”) has been providing New York Paid Family Leave (PFL) benefits to eligible members covered under the Fund since January 1, 2018 (the effective date of the NYPFL requirement). Body Shop Bill Passes in NYC Council
Thanks to the organizing of Laborers Fight Back activists, the Body Shop Bill was passed by the NYC Council by a vote of 40 to 2. This groundbreaking legislation will regulate unscrupulous contractors that take advantage of formerly incarcerated construction workers.
