9/11 Memorial Museum Offers Free Admission to Rescue and Recovery Workers

Workers involved in the New York City, Arlington, VA, and Somerset county, PA rescue, recovery, investigation, cleanup, and relief efforts after 9/11 are eligible for free admission to the 9/11 Memorial Museum. To be eligible, workers must register with the Rescue and Recovery Workers Registry, a registry that documents workers who were involved in the post-9/11 effort and also provides a space for them to interact as a community. Local 79 Hosts Spring Retiree Luncheon

On April 8, hundreds of Local 79 retirees gathered at Villa Barone in the Bronx for Local 79’s festive annual Spring Retiree Luncheon.  The four-hour event featured food, drink, dancing, and prizes—ranging from food baskets to high-end electronic goods—that were raffled off to the lucky winners. Hundreds of Local 79 members joined well over a thousand workers from various unions to celebrate May Day 2014 with a rally near New York City Hall. Under beautiful sunny skies, labor leaders and politicians spoke about the ongoing struggles faced by working people in New York City.
