Walk for St. Mary’s Kids
Hundreds of Local 79 members and their families went to Coney Island on the morning of September 16 to participate in a Walk for St. Mary’s Kids, aiming to meet their 5-year goal of raising $500,000 for St. Mary’s Hospital. Labor Day Parade 2017
Over 700 Laborers Local 79 members and their families came out to show their Union Pride with others in the Labor movement. It was by far the largest Local 79 turnout ever. Our local is at our strongest when we come together. Throngs of onlookers lined the streets as cries of “Whose City? Local 79 Volunteers in Haiti with H.E.A.R.T. 9/11
Local 79 members volunteered to help rebuild Haiti with H.E.A.R.T. 9/11. Also, on the service trip were other union members from the FDNY, New York City District Council of Carpenters, Port Authority Police Department and Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers. Over 200 Local 79 members volunteered on Sunday, May 21 to help clean up Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Mike Prohaska Honored to be NY State Laborer Trustee
Local 79 is proud to announce that Business Manager Mike Prohaska has been asked to be a trustee of the New York State Laborers’ Health & Safety, PAC and LECET funds.
